Argo Voyager
Looping Animation, 2015
Argo Voyager is a loop animation I created in spring 2015. Argo is the name of the legendary ship in Greece Mythology of Golden Fleece, and Voyager is the name of the first spacecraft that escapes from Solar system. In the animation, I address the complex between the political, commercial civilization that mankind have built up and the loneliness of human beings because of our existence in this dark universe. The ruin of the gigantic architecture, which is obviously a symbol of our political history, but somehow, only floating in the endless void, and trapped in this closed circle of the loop animation. That is the exact way of how our history and our ideological conflicts repeat themselves again and again.
阿尔戈的名字取自于著名的金羊毛神话中名为阿尔戈的英雄之船。而旅行者指的则是第一个离开太阳系的人造物体——旅行者一号探测器。在这里我用无限循环的动画的形式，讲的是一个关于人类的文明永远都无法从自己的意识形态（比如政治的，比如消费主义的）逃离出来的寓言。片中出现的建筑残骸和片尾出现的软饮料瓶子，皆是某种无法逃离的意识形态囚牢。而那个象征着人类的探索精神和野心的极致的空间探测器所能到达的最远端，也不过依然在这囚牢之中。
